Having good stick work in lacrosse or “having a good stick” is the single most important skill with which to measure a beginner’s progress. Lacrosse is a skill and finesse game. It is a game that gets more fun as one’s stick skills improve. We believe that when teaching beginners, coaches should find creative ways to incorporate stick work into every drill.
Beginners should be highly encouraged to work on their sticks as much as possible, not just at an organized practice. Lacrosse is one of the easiest sports to practice on your own. Individual practice time is a huge indicator of success for not only beginning lacrosse players, but advanced players as well. If a player has strong stick skills in this game, he can play anywhere on the field, and at every level.
We envision a future that offers everyone a lifelong opportunity to enjoy the sport of lacrosse. As Coastal Virginia's lacrosse training and information source, 757 Lacrosse Training provides leadership, structure and resources to fuel the sport's growth and enrich the experience of our participants.
